Site History

Spock Lives represents the coming together of two previous Spock web sites, one run by Amie and one by Karen. In combining forces, we have created the largest and most in-depth Spock resource on the Internet. We have much to do and to add in the future, as Spock Lives evolves. But we will also take moment to look back at the past.

Sha-Ka-Ri. Amie's former Star Trek website, created in 1999 and last seen on the web in 2001, has long since been something she wanted to return to with renewed vigour. The site focused on Spock and Vulcan, with the usual biography and pictures, but also featured an unique "field trip" to Vulcan, and the original Kirk and Spock paper dolls (check out the new Spock paper doll!). A section called Spock's Corner showcased fan art and recipes. This site was instrumental in forming our long-lasting friendship. The originality of the site won it several awards and it was fairly popular for its short lifespan, though the simple design and much of the content now makes her cringe. Not nearly as extensive as...

Strange Fascination. Karen's Star Trek web site went through several incarnations since 1998 (namely Karen Jeane's Star Trek Web Site and The Redshirt Web) before becoming a "character shrine" to Spock called Strange Fascination in August 2004. With a focus on written content, the pages offered full biographical information and a complete episode guide. Strange Fascination received an award from Bernd Schneider's Ex Astris Scientia soon after its debut. The pages remained online and updated until 2006. With Spock reappearing onscreen in Star Trek (2009) for the first time since 1991, interest in the characters is reaching a fever pitch. Strange Fascination's features find a new home on Spock Lives.
