That Which Survives
A mysterious female appears at random intervals to do the crew harm. She flings the ship light years across the galaxy, leaving Kirk, McCoy, and Sulu stranded on a barren planet.
Worst. Episode. Ever. And who's at its center? Lee Meriwether, also known as Catwoman. There's probably nothing to our Batman theory - they're fine actors - it's just the sort of thing one starts thinking of when confronted by a truly wretched run of episodes. Losira might be cool with some personality, or had she not be a computer projection. Her attack method is illogical to say the least, her powers not coherent. At least she gives us a good catch phrase with " I am for ____." It's preferable to the gobbledygook Scotty's spitting out. Apparently one only needs a fork to reverse the magnetic flow of the polarity of the... never mind. He and Spock normally get along, so what's with their tension? To top it off the behavior of the normally appealing Spock is perhaps the most annoying element here. Totally out of character. The last straw! So yeah, worst episode.
Spock Saves the Day: Spock's faith in Scotty prevents the ship from blowing up, and he orders the alien computer destroyed.
Oops: The Vulcan's fussiness with numbers seems extreme.
Developments: Perhaps Spock's irritability springs from concern for Kirk, or it could just be sloppy writing. Most likely.
